PrettyGirlLosingIt 4 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) My surgery is scheduled for May 15th 2017 and I am so excited! However, my doctor does not have me on an all-liquid diet. Instead, I am on a high Protein, low fat, no sugar/Carb diet 2 weeks before surgery. I was a bit concerned because I had never heard of this before. He explained the 2-week diet beforehand is only to make my liver smaller and the same can be accomplished with the 2-week diet he provided. Has anyone else ever heard of a doctor doing this? EDIT Sorry seems like i found the answer to this after reading all posts lol. Anyone out there scheduled for the 15th? Ready4aNewStart 40 Posted April 28, 2017 It is so worth it! I was supposed to be sleeved on May 2nd but they moved it up to April 24th. I was very nervous and excited but am so happy I went through with it. I am down 20 lbs from last Wednesday. I am assuming a lot of it has to do with still being on liquids but still happy about it. The biggest problem right after surgery was the Nausea. Now its the gas pain but gas x chewables are helping along with walking. I am back to work and feeling pretty good. I haven't had to take any pain medication since 7pm the day of my surgery. My surgery was at 11:45am. Good luck to everyone preparing for surgery. You won't regret it! 5 BubbleSam, Patriotsfanatic, Melena68 and 2 others reacted to this

krosevf30 15 Posted April 29, 2017 I'm having surgery in Mexico with Dr. Lopez-Corvala. My goal is to get rid of my GERD that I've had for 20 years and of course lose many pounds!! I don't have a special pre-op diet but I'm definitely going to cut out high carbs and fatty foods to prepare - probably do liquids for the week prior. I'm happy my husband gets to stay in the hospital with me the entire time. Nervous, excited and ready! 1 LeahF reacted to this

I am so glad you are doing well. What an inspiration. Did your nausea last a long time? Was it the anesthesia? I am glad to hear that Gas x Chewables are helping. I am on day 4 of the liquid diet and it has been hard. I am so ready for the surgery and hearing your story gives me hope. 1 Simply_Divine reacted to this

I am a teacher and run around a lot. My caloric intake is only 800 calories of Protein Shakes. On an average day, I burn about 3,000 calories a day. By the end of the day, I am exhausted. Today, I am downright weepy. Feeling overwhelmed. We are moving about a month after my surgery. I know that it all work out well. But I still have so much to do at work and then for the move, and my oldest son leaves for college in August. My family is super supportive and I am so excited about the surgery. This group is awesome. 2 Simply_Divine and BubbleSam reacted to this

This group is awesome.I hear you. That is a lot going on on top on restricted calories. I've been feeling all the feels myself. But it has been helping me to let myself get excited and think about what this surgery will mean for ME. Not kids, husband, or job. This will all be worth it for us. Hang in there! Ready4aNewStart 40 Posted April 29, 2017 Nausea lasted about a day and a half for me. I don't remember being put out for anesthesia but apparently I did good. I'm not on you tube lol.
SusitaNM 23 Posted April 29, 2017 May 30, and I could really use a buddy to go through the pre-op with. I started this journey in November, but there were some mixups that had me waiting around for months without knowing if I were really going to get a surgery date. Now that I have one, I need to get my head and heart prepared in a month. Anybody getting the procedure done at the end of May? 1 LeahF reacted to this
