I'm a newbie here -- my surgery is October 15th. I started my liquid diet yesterday and have now made it through 2 days without cheating -- woo hoo! whoo.gif I've been drinking LOTS of Water. For my Protein Drink, I'm using Unjury and really like the chocolate and vanilla. Unjury mixes really good, with no clumps. That's all I've tried so far. I admit that I'm nervous about the thought of life after surgery. What will I be able to eat? I am going on vacation the second week in December -- will I be able to eat anything or will I be still on mushies. Very nerve racking. I go Thursday to visit with the nurse, so will ask her some questions, but I look forward more to hearing from any of you who have actually been through all of this.

I had my pre-op tests yesterday and pre-op visit with the RN. Of course, they weighed me -- I've lost 9 lbs!!! :clap2: This is day 5 of my 2-week liquid diet and I'm still going strong. My doc has just started doing lap band (has done bypass for years), so I'm one of the first for him. Not THE first, which is fine with me! :nervous He is starting a support group for lapbanders in November, which I am very excited for! I am SO ready for this to be done and on my way!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
