Sleeve1stFitNext 924 Posted April 7, 2017 Greetings!!! I am in my soft food stage and I would like to know if we can have smart one dinners. The ones with chicken and turkey, gravy and mash potatoes. I would really like to get some but I want to make sure that it is considered a soft food option. Also, does any one have any recipes other than eggs, tuna and Beans? Thank you very much. mylighthouse 782 Posted April 8, 2017 The turkey/chicken might not be soft enough for the soft food stage. I know I was told that really fall-apart tender, moist chicken/fish would be okay. Also, just a heads-up on the Smart Ones.... they may claim to be healthy, but Smart Ones, Healthy Choice, Weight Watchers, etc frozen meals are usually very high in carbs. Remember you want to get your Protein first and I imagine that gravy with the chicken/turkey is loaded with carbs and so are the potatoes. 1 360lyMe reacted to this

If you are on Pinterest, there are a TON of recipes that look great for every stage of the way. I am pre op, and have been collecting recipes for after surgery
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted April 8, 2017 Cook your own real food. Those smart ones are trash. Do not eat them, especially not early on, and mashed potatoes and gravy is a bad post op option. The nutrition value is bad. 22 carbs and 20 Protein. You never want to eat anything where the carbs are more than the protein, if you have to eat carbs, the protein should out do the carbs 2 to 1 or 3 to 1. If the carbs on this was like 5 or 8 and the protein was 20 then it would be an okay choice. 1 MeltsIntoWonder reacted to this
HeatherS. 230 Posted April 9, 2017 It's going to vary from Dr to Dr. Mine said no meats unless I've put them through a blender for soft foods stage. Having had Smart Ones, I'd advise against. The meat is pretty tough. Google Eggface for lots of things you can eat. She's a great resource. If you're in a situation where you can't cook for yourself (it happens), it seems that canned chicken, canned tuna, and canned corned beef hash are the more common choices at that stage (especially turned into a "salad" version with yogurt or mayo, etc.)
Sleeve1stFitNext 924 Posted April 9, 2017 Thank you for the information. I ended up just getting some Soups from panera bread. 1 Suze58 reacted to this
