kafinator330 6 Posted April 6, 2017 Ugh. So hard. I'm struggling with the liquid diet- cheated today and had a cup of chili and I'm regretting it. I know I can do it it's just the need for real food that I'm caving on. Had my endoscopic sleeve a week ago. Anyone else have this struggle? Any suggestions with how to get over this hump and be more consistent? 1 Carmencita!981 reacted to this
dianemar 45 Posted April 7, 2017 It is a tough place to be in, BUT it does not last forever. Know that, and know that your head may say you are hungry, that real food is all you obsess about, but you also know you wanted change , so allow that to happen. You can only hold so much right now and you want to heal correctly, so it is to your long term benefit to follow the rules for your own sake and health. We all got in this position because we couldn't learn to say no to our wants and desires for the most part. But it is a new day, and you will not die from hunger, your body will adapt and so will you. Good Luck. 2 FatCat•2•SkinnyKitty and Suze58 reacted to this
Dianeo 18 Posted April 7, 2017 It's hard to stay on the liquid diet, pre op. I was able to do it for about 1 1/2 weeks and then I started gagging on the Protein Drink. If you're going to eat food, try to make the best choices - high Protein and low carbs. Now, I am 4 days post op and am on the clear liquid phase. I'm having no issues at all with wanting real food! I'm not hungry and I'm actually struggling to get all my liquids in. You can do this! 1 Suze58 reacted to this

I was sleeved on 3/31, 1 week today, and I do feel like I am hungry at times. I also dont feel much restriction yet. I can easily eat a 5.3 oz. greek yogurt without a problem. Last night I made Ricotta bake and ate about 5 bites and couldnt eat any more. I try switching it up, between shakes, broths, creamed soups, jello, popsicles, cottage cheese, anything for a change.Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app 2 Toya828 and Suze58 reacted to this
mana-mana 1 Posted April 8, 2017 Sleeved on 3/28 and starting to go stir crazy on the liquids. Just a few more days to go. I think I am going to make the ricotta bake and see if that helps. I made a coconut milk oat bran hot Cereal that broke the monotony.
360lyMe 40 Posted April 9, 2017 I was sleeved on 3/1 and had no problem with the liquid diet, but my 1st day on soft foods (3/15) was horrible. I tried a little chicken salad and wasn't able to keep it down. Any chicken is still a definite NO for me. I'll be able to eat regular foods next week, but I'm scared to have anything but tuna, boiled eggs, and Greek yogurt since I know I can keep those down and they are high in Protein. 1 Suze58 reacted to this
Kay 83 22 Posted April 9, 2017 Keep taking the nausea meds it will help I was sleeved 3/29 I'm ok with all soft foods you gotta take baby spoonful
BAinLKW 7 Posted April 9, 2017 I use a baby spoon to eat with and only eat 3.5 oz at a time. If that settles and is good and I want more, and feel like I can eat more, then I do. Most of the time that is enough. Sleeved 3/16/17. 1 Suze58 reacted to this
Kay 83 22 Posted April 9, 2017 Our belly holds 10-15oz of food & liquid
BAinLKW 7 Posted April 10, 2017 If mine holds that much I have never tried to get that much in. I feel full after the 3.5 oz so I'm not going to risk getting sick.
blizair09 3,250 Posted April 10, 2017 Persistence and old-fashioned grit and determination are necessary to be successful in this journey. My advice is to buckle down and just do what you are supposed to do. Trust me, it doesn't get easier as you go along. Yes, the liquid part of the journey is among the worst parts of it, but having to make the right decisions about food and drink will be a necessary part of the journey from here on out. BAinLKW 7 Posted April 10, 2017 I agree. The "maintenance " part is going to be as hard or harder than the losing part.
Suze58 8 Posted April 10, 2017 I have been struggling as well. My surgery was 4/5/17 and I have been doing 2 shakes a day , I'll have 1/4 c of greek yogurt 2x's a day , Jello (which I'm finding too sweet even though sugar free. Popsicles...all I know , I will be so happy to move to soft foods. By that time I'll have been on the liver reduction diet for 23 days. No one said this was going to be easy. I have been taking more naps , trying to wear off anesthesia, going for walks , contacting my support buddy ...7 more days before I see my doctor for first post op visit...
