Yes, you had something major done and your body needs time to heal and recover. It was only 2 days ago you had 80% of your stomach removed. People take longer than that to heal from a paper cut.

Two days after major surgery, you're going to be sleepy :) Give it a week or so, and you'll start to feel your energy coming back. It may not be back to full until a couple weeks from now, but it'll come.

Yes, it is normal... but! You have to keep on top of your fluids. You also need to walk. Set alarms to keep waking you up to do those things during the day. At night you can sleep undisturbed.

I was sleeved on 4/4 as well, and I'm right there with you in terms of wanting to sleep all the time. Surgery takes a lot out of you, and the body wants to shut down as much as possible to help with healing.

Right there with you. Also done on 4/4. I ended up staying an extra day over the 1 night my doc predicted. And even now, I'm still just wiped out. Force 2-3 small sips every few minutes you're awake, and sleep when you need to. At least that's what I was told on discharge.

Same here. I stayed 2 nights, and the doc wanted to keep me another day, but the nurses made a point to note that there wasn't anything different they could do there than I would do at home, and at least at home I'd get more rest. I feel better today and am giving myself timed goals for getting in Fluid while I'm awake. I am doing well with Protein Shakes, but am slightly terrified to try other foods, even though I'm on purées.

So totally normal. You just had major surgery, and that will take enormous energy to heal from. I'm almost 2 weeks out and my energy is just starting to come back.

Spurts of activity still wear me out, too. Focus on hydration and healing. That's what my dr said, and it's been good advice.

I too was so tired after surgery. Was sleeved on 4/3/17. Doing so much better now since I have stopped pain medication. I stayed two nights as well in part because I wasn't getting my fluids in manually because I was sleeping too much and they had to continue the IV. It gets better. I didn't nap yesterday or today.

I had the same problem in the hospital. As soon as they threatened me with a 3rd night, I forced myself to stay awake and drink what I could. I'm still taking occasional pain meds at home - mostly at night. I also didn't need a nap today and have more energy than I've had in awhile.

I'm 7 weeks out and still have to take a nap in the middle of the day! I think it's part of the healing process! My doctor said it will take 3 months for my stomach to heal! And I truly believe him! I'm still soar and puffy!

Yeah, I'm 2.5 weeks out and I feel great sometimes and other times I'm so lightheaded and dizzy. I get everyone Breakfast, clean up...sweep the floor, sometimes I keep going, sometimes I need a 10minutes break....I was out pulling fencing wire and I could hardly stand after 2 hours (pretty light labour) just on our own land. I think pms Might be making things worse.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
