sassifunk 11 Posted April 6, 2017 I was sleeved April 4 and now all I can do is sleep. I have never been so tired. Is this normal?
LittleLizzieLilliput 919 Posted April 6, 2017 Yes, you had something major done and your body needs time to heal and recover. It was only 2 days ago you had 80% of your stomach removed. People take longer than that to heal from a paper cut. 5 m-strings, Suze58, Deactivatedfatgal and 2 others reacted to this
EmmyJ 184 Posted April 6, 2017 Two days after major surgery, you're going to be sleepy Give it a week or so, and you'll start to feel your energy coming back. It may not be back to full until a couple weeks from now, but it'll come. 1 Suze58 reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted April 6, 2017 Yes, it is normal... but! You have to keep on top of your fluids. You also need to walk. Set alarms to keep waking you up to do those things during the day. At night you can sleep undisturbed. 1 Toya828 reacted to this
MeltsIntoWonder 125 Posted April 7, 2017 I was sleeved on 4/4 as well, and I'm right there with you in terms of wanting to sleep all the time. Surgery takes a lot out of you, and the body wants to shut down as much as possible to help with healing. 1 Deactivatedfatgal reacted to this
buffyjowil 0 Posted April 7, 2017 I was sleeved on 4/4 as well and still feeling the need to nap. I just worry that I'm getting everything in I'm supposed to as far as Protein and Water.< br>
vstephens1213 1 Posted April 7, 2017 Right there with you. Also done on 4/4. I ended up staying an extra day over the 1 night my doc predicted. And even now, I'm still just wiped out. Force 2-3 small sips every few minutes you're awake, and sleep when you need to. At least that's what I was told on discharge.
Deactivatedfatgal 377 Posted April 7, 2017 Perfectly normal! I was same for at least first week. 1 Rowvin reacted to this

I stayed 2 nights, and the doc wanted to keep me another day, but the nurses made a point to note that there wasn't anything different they could do there than I would do at home, and at least at home I'd get more rest. I feel better today and am giving myself timed goals for getting in Fluid while I'm awake. I am doing well with Protein Shakes, but am slightly terrified to try other foods, even though I'm on purées.
HeatherS. 230 Posted April 9, 2017 So totally normal. You just had major surgery, and that will take enormous energy to heal from. I'm almost 2 weeks out and my energy is just starting to come back. Spurts of activity still wear me out, too. Focus on hydration and healing. That's what my dr said, and it's been good advice. 1 Suze58 reacted to this

Elizabeth73 25 Posted April 9, 2017 I too was so tired after surgery. Was sleeved on 4/3/17. Doing so much better now since I have stopped pain medication. I stayed two nights as well in part because I wasn't getting my fluids in manually because I was sleeping too much and they had to continue the IV. It gets better. I didn't nap yesterday or today. 1 MeltsIntoWonder reacted to this

I had the same problem in the hospital. As soon as they threatened me with a 3rd night, I forced myself to stay awake and drink what I could. I'm still taking occasional pain meds at home - mostly at night. I also didn't need a nap today and have more energy than I've had in awhile.
caddygirl 208 Posted April 10, 2017 I'm 7 weeks out and still have to take a nap in the middle of the day! I think it's part of the healing process! My doctor said it will take 3 months for my stomach to heal! And I truly believe him! I'm still soar and puffy!

Yeah, I'm 2.5 weeks out and I feel great sometimes and other times I'm so lightheaded and dizzy. I get everyone Breakfast, clean up...sweep the floor, sometimes I keep going, sometimes I need a 10minutes break....I was out pulling fencing wire and I could hardly stand after 2 hours (pretty light labour) just on our own land. I think pms Might be making things worse.
