I still feel really big

Recommended Posts

I am almost 2 months post op and Since my pre op diet to now I have lost 48.1 pounds... have went down from 24/26 to 18/20 pants and shirts 3x-4x to 2x. My problem I still feel as big as I did when I started.. even tho I see some difference like fitting in chairs I still feel really big.... does anyone else feel this way?

Give it time. It took us some time to build up all this weight and it will take a bit of time to get rid of it even with the sleeve/bypass. You're doing great! You're down 3 dress sizes in 2 months!! OMG! When else in your life have you achieved that?!? You're not super slim yet but you are undoubtedly getting there. You need some cheerleaders in your life to help you acknowledge your progress and keep you focused on the goal. You're doing great! Stay the course!

I am 4 months out op & it's just no what I notice how different I look!! Especially when I try on clothes! I went from a size 20 pant to a 12/med! Shirts from XXXL to med! Keep up the great work you are doing!

I have been going to gym (Planet Fitness has fabulous deal $10 month with no commitment). I use personal trainner there once a week which is really helping. In the past I. Hated the gym but now look forward to it.

Keep moving!

Yes I get it all the time people tell me I don't look like myself when they see me. But when I look in the mirror I still see the hanging gut I still have man boobs the one thing I really notice a difference is my man parts seem to longer.

Same. 2 months post-op this week. I still feel fat & don't know where the -41 lbs were lost. But my clothes are looser & noticed my neck looks longer & boney. I think it has to do with always putting myself down before surgery. I gotta get over that & be proud of the hard work to lose these lbs I could never do it before.

Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
Current weight: 174.2 lbs
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
