Question about protein (powder, liquid, etc..)

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone, I have a question about Protein powders and liquids. I've been doing some reading and research but this is not something I've used before. Since most of them are whey based and/or contain milk derivatives and products, what is the shelf life? For example, post-op, I will only be drinking two ounces at a time, to start. If I'm using a premixed Liquid Protein drink, how long will it last in the refrigerator once I open it? I think the containers are about 16 oz. that could last days. Also, adding Protein Powder to things like Jell-O and pudding that I would pre make in 2 ounce containers. How long will that protein be good in the refrigerator prepared like that? I hope I'm making sense

I honestly would have never of thought to ask this question, but I bought the Isopure zero bottles, to try, and I drank half of one bottle closed it and put it in the refrigerator and when I went to drink it the next day it smelled rancid. I don't know if I just got a bad bottle, or if it wasn't supposed to be refrigerated again after I opened it and drank half. Any opinions or experience on this would be appreciated!

Bacteria grows the fastest in high Protein moist environment. I prob wouldn't recommend pre making protein pudding in large quantities unless you plan on freezing them. I just remember trying to wash my Blender Bottle after after drinking protein powder. It's disgusting!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
