I am losing a lot of hair at 6 months out. Thankfully I have a lot so it isn't that noticeable to others but every day my bathroom floor is full of it and in the shower. I just mentioned this to my program coordinator who is a nurse and she said to try, Zinc. Apparently she discussed this with the team, surgeons, etc. I have been taking Zinc for about a week. I was told not to try Biosil because you will grow hair every where you don't want it. Ugh! The pills are kind of big, abt. size of extra strength Tylenol. We shall see.

Try hair and nails Vitamins or prenatal vitamins

when we say falling out.... how much are we talking about? i'm almost 1 month post op and very scared about this. Is it enough to give bald spots in guessing??

I haven't had any bald spots, thank gosh. I could just tell when I washed my hair, brushed it, and on my clothes. I had really thick hair, so its thinner now, but nobody seems to notice but me. I am just so glad that it has finally slowed down.

I lost a ton of hair the first 6 months. Nothing I used made it better....then magically at 6 months it stopped!

Sleeved 9/6/16. I have lost about 40% of my hair. My hair was fine but I had a lot of it. 7 months post and I don't see as much falling out. Could be because I don't have any left to lose! I take my Vitamins, Water, and Protein. It is a natural process when your body goes into shock from being malnourished for a long period of time. My doctor compared it to pregnancy Hair loss after giving birth. Doctor did tell me it would grow back. If you do a search on hair in this forum you will get to read what all of the vets said. It happens, can't prevent it and it will grow back. The vets say it will take anywhere between 1-2 yrs for it to come back.

Amazon sells a Fiber hair loss filler that I love! Just put a little bit at the top so no one can see the scalp.

Good luck.

So it's been a month since I posted this. My Hair loss is starting to slow down a bit. I have about half of my hair left. It's not so bad that I can see my scalp, but it is incredibly noticeable to me. If I pull it into a ponytail, a hair tie would twist 4 or 5 times. thin as a pencil. The pain in the scalp (like when you have a ponytail too tight) has started to subside. At least I have that to be thankful for. I am still happy with my choice to have the surgery. Hair wil grow back.

My hairloss lasted for about 10 weeks. It didn't get to the point that it was noticeable to anyone but me. I am in month 8 and am still waiting to notice it growing back. I haven't noticed it yet. I still have no regrets.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
