MGB weight loss stalled

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I'm 2.5 weeks post MGB and was down 1 stone in first 10 days, but I haven't lost anything for the last 7 days, I'm sticking to the plan and started on soft foods a few days ago but the weight loss has stalled, has anyone else experienced this and should I be concerned ? Thanks

The 3 week stall is pretty common. I stalled at 3 then 5 weeks.

I had surgery on 3/4/2017. Sleeve to MGB. Starting weight 190, Weight day of surgery was 183. 3/10/2017 was 190..then scale stated moving. By 3/18/2017 I was 173 and I have been at that every since...as a matter of fact yesterday I was 175. I am so disappointed and scared that something is wrong...How is this? I had hoped to be at 150 by June. At this rate I wont get there. I know I am just at 4 weeks post op, but this was not what I expected.

My surgeon indicated that weight loss may stall from time to time and that this was natural and normal and of no concern.

Patients that weigh below 200 lbs (or had a revision) don't typically lose as quickly as someone that weighs a lot more, so try not to compare yourself to others. Cally, you've lost 14 lbs in 3.5 weeks , which isn't bad, especially after being pumped with IV fluids.

Thanks for the replies, thankfully its moving nicely again, and i'm down 30lbs now after 10 weeks, so its averaging out now, for anyone that has a stall, dont worry they are temporary, just have to have the patience to ride them out. Also i think it helps that i am now able to eat a bit more which is actually helping with the weight loss ironically!

I had band revision to mgb at the beginning of April, only lost about 21lbs so far and haven't lost any more :(
I expected better weightloss than the band, but it seems to be going super slow, and it has stopped :(

Sleeve to MGB .. I'm in the same boat, weight loss extremely slow. 7 weeks post op, surgery 170, today 156, it goes down a pound then up a pound or two. [emoji30] I wanna go back to a liquid diet ...

I Had MGB on August 6, 2018. It was a revision from VSG. My surgery weight was almost 260, today almost 5 months later I’m at 240. I feel discouraged, but will keep at it.

im having little restriction so im keeping mindful about staying under 1000-1200 calories, getting Protein in first. Also drinking 2 liters of Water.

in a desperation, I’ve begun 16.8 IF...

this is not the result I was expecting from a revised surgery, 4 months in. :-/

susie - that has to be so frustrating. Do you have any idea why you've lost so little and so slowly? I can't get my head around the physiology of consistently following the rules and staying under 1200 calories. Do you find yourself yo-yoing off of plan sometimes? Or could there be something else contributing? It seems like even without any surgery, 1200 calories or less or healthy eating would result in weight loss. Please understand, not judging or doubting you - this is a fear I have following revision a month and a half ago, so I'm always eager to learn from others and what they're experiencing.
