Recommended Posts

Hi I'm 4 days post op and I messed up. I purchased Vitamin zero but regular Vitamin Water was on the same shelf and I picked that one up too. I didn't realize t until after I drank it. Can something bad happen. I didn't get sick from it.

Hi, no don't think so. If you didn't get sick I wouldn't worry about it. There is a Protein Drink called Isopure, it comes in a lot of different flavors. No sugar, 40g Protein, 20oz bottle, it's really good, no after taste. Blue Raspberry is my favorite. I was about 4 weeks out when I had a craving for a Clementine, so I ate about 3/4 of a small one and OMG I thought I was going to die for hours! So that's what you call a mistake....don't do that! Lol Good Luck

Yes I know that. I accidentally drank it thinking it was zero. That'a why I posted the question. I was wondering if anything can happen.

Vitaminwater is High in liquid Sugar, and May Contain Just as Much Fructose as Coca-Cola. One 20 oz (591 ml) bottle of Vitaminwater contains about 120 calories and 32 grams of sugar, just about 50% less than a regular Coke. However, it differs between countries which “type” of sugar is used.

After RNY gastric bypass surgery the part of your stomach that processes sugars and fats can be cut away. Therefore consuming sugar can produce dumping. Not all people are affected the same way by the surgery so that may account for your lack of dumping.

I made this mistake too! I was lucky enough to catch it before I drank it, but not before I wasted the money on it :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
