avidawn23 0 Posted April 4, 2017 Has anyone ever had to do a medical weight loss program to prepare for their surgery? My surgeon's office suggested I start one. I know there are prescriptions involved but not much else.
Mandalu_hoo 5 Posted April 4, 2017 My medical weight loss was meeting with a nutritionist and my Dr.s office once a month. For me, prescriptions were voluntary. 1 Syaniya reacted to this
bostonmama 135 Posted April 5, 2017 My insurance didn't require it, but its very common to have to be on a supervised weight loss program in order for insurance to approve wls. I would check with your insurance company to see what their requirements are, to make sure that what you're doing qualifies if they do require a program. From what I've read on this site they usually require monthly visits/weight checks for a set time period, and sometimes gaining weight at one of those checks in means you have to start the program over again.
