I'm just over 3 months post op. I'm supposed to be eating a cup of food at each meal and 2 Snacks per day. I cannot get in the cup of food. More like a half a cup and not a crumb more or I'll puke and then I don't feel well for at least a half hour to 45 minutes after I eat. It's been like this since I started eating regular food. Doesn't matter which food it is, hot or cold, or if I eat it slow or fast. The result is always the same. Will this improve for me eventually?

Per my nut I'm suppose to eat a cup of food at 9-12 months post op and maintain that for life at your stage I was still eating 1/4 cup and then around 6months I was at 1/2cup which is where I still am I'm almost 10months post

I agree with Jesm. A cup of food is for maintenance. You are doing just fine at 1/2 cup (and from the sounds of it, you might want to do a couple spoonfuls less than that).

Don't push yourself to overeat. Just make sure you are getting your nutrition. I am 7 mos out and usually eat about 3/4 cups. A cup for life, was like the most I was supposed to be able to eat.

You're fine, don't push. Keep going on the 1/2 cup.

Thank you all. It puts me at ease to know it's ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
