I am 8.5 weeks post op and have lost 31lbs so far. I went shopping for the first time yesterday for some clothes and I tried a size down because my clothes from home seem bigger but everything I tried on was too small. So I went back to trying on the size that I'm used to and everything fit, so I'm feeling a little discouraged and wondering why I'm seeing the difference in the mirror and on the scale but not in my clothes? Has anyone else experienced this?

I didn't need new sizes for the first two months- reality was that what I was wearing was tight.

I would bet money that all the clothing you own was actually too small for you -- but you didn't realize / didn't want to go up a size. That definitely was true of me. Now, roughly 85 pounds down, I have some clothes that fit me perfectly, but that I was still wearing while I was bigger...

If you are in plus sizes it takes forever to lose a size, because of how they are designed also what @Brandeis said.

When you get smaller, every 5-10 pounds is a size

I have been avoiding it as well. I have many xl and size 18 in the closet. I went out today to find an interview outfit, and tried on a 16 pants and a large top. They fit! Just go back in a month and try again, you don't want to waste too much money on clothes now anyways, you still have many more pounds to lose. 😎

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
