Im still debating whether to have my sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

I am ongoing with the process of getting a gastric sleeve and am still very hesitant. Im 15 and way overweight with some additional health problems. To people that are or have gotten this surgery, would you let me know why you got it , if it was stressful and how youre doing now ? that would really help

Have you been overweight your entire life? Have you tried structured diet plans and workout plans and continually failed? If so - and you're battling additional health problems due to the excessive weight then clearly this may be the route for you. Try not to psyche yourself out of the losers bench.

I'm 16 days post op and I decided to get sleeved because of my health issues. I thought I was healthy because I "felt" great. However, inside my body was taking all the stressors in life and started to show me that everything was not "great". I'm not on the "happy" side of surgery yet because of my discomforts from surgery. I am healing and the pain is subsiding and since the first day I started my journey at the weight loss clinic at 285 pounds....With the pre op dieting, Protein Shakes, Clear Liquids and surgery I'm 255 pounds today. I'm excited about that!....Before summer is over, I should be 50 pounds lighter...I can't wait!....Dont wait until your my age to do something about your weight....If you can, Do it!..Live life with no regrets!..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
