How do I minimize scars after weight loss surgery?

Recommended Posts

Any advice?

My incisions are new (9 days post op) but if there is something I can do to reduce the appearance now and going forward? I'd appreciate the tips and tricks.

The glue is still on 3 of the 5. The ones I see are very small, and I'd like to keep it that way :)

I didn't do much with the small scars and 20 months later you don't really notice them. I used bio oil but was very hit and miss with it.

Congratulations on the surgery 😊

Don't put anything on them while the glue is there. It can make it release too early. I'm 6 weeks out and can hardly see my scars. I wouldn't give it any worry.

Having had plastics, there is a product called BioCorneum that works fantastic. It not only lightens scars but also flattens them.

Thanks for sharing about this product. I'm going to check it out. I had the VSG in August of 2015, and my scars have faded and flattened considerably since then, but are still visible. I'm extremely fair, so it shows up a bit more on me. For the first time since high school I actually want to wear a bikini at the beach, so I'm going to try this product and hope for the best.

@VSG4Mag - Congratulations on your surgery! I'm grateful for having mine every day. :) Your life will change for the better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
