Each surgeon is different. Did your surgeon's office provide you pre-op diet he or she wanted to to follow. Pre-op diets vary quite a bit surgeon to surgeon. I have 1 week liquid diet which includes 4 shakes a day first one within 1 hour of awakening. Sf popsicles, sf pudding, broth, diet none carbonated juice or flavored water is allowed. Stick to what your surgeons protocol. When's your surgery?

I just kept telling myself, "I can do anything for two weeks". I can do anything for 10 days... etc...." it's much more of a head game than anything else, but it gives you the momentum to carry you through postop.

PS- I wouldn't weigh yourself too much, as you shouldn't be focused on results as much as dedication to the program. The results will come if you follow the program, just look at all the pre/post updates for those who follow their program.
Everyone who doesn't follow, disappeares.

You are making a huge decision to change your life, you can do this! Keep the faith and respect the process

Does anyone have any pre-op diet advice? I am starting my 2 week pre-op and looking for ideas on food choices.

The first few days, you may feel pretty awful (headaches, lethargic, lightheaded). But...it's temporary, I promise. Once you get over that hump, it gets easier. Just stick with the diet your surgeon requires. As previously stated, our diets wildly vary from surgeon to surgeon. I wasn't put on an all liquid diet but others were. Mine consisted of 3 Protein Shakes a day, a small salad, 4 oz of lean Protein of my choice, and non- starchy vegetables. The goal was to stay below 50 g of carbs and 1200 calories a day for two weeks. You'll read about some people who weren't placed on a diet at all (lucky them [emoji4]).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
