Your Insurance company is not providing you with classes before hand?

Im going to my appts as scheduled, have met with a nutritionist and she gave me a 1500 calorie diet to follow. No, I haven't been told about any classes. I did send an email to my nutritionist with this question. What classes are you talking about?

Always following your surgeons directions for your diet I had a two-week high-protein low-carb diet and 4 days of Clear Liquids and my surgery went well my surgery was March 28th this year

I have Kaiser Permanente and before you have the surgery you have to take a 12 week class full of info and everything you need to know. It was very informative. I just finished I go meet the surgeon on the 12th of April.

You may never have to count those things, though post-op Protein is usually counted because it is the most important thing to get in (after water) and is often a struggle for a while. Carbs and fats don't matter much post-op because our diets are so limited in volume that it's very difficult to consume too much of either - the type and quality of the food is a lot more important than the macro counts, though because of the popularity of some fad diets, some really go crazy counting these things. Pre-op, if you are following your nutritionist's plan, that should have the protein, carb and fat levels built in. However, you may find it useful to track your intake and see what those levels are for future reference - tracking apps such as My Fitness Pal are quite popular for doing this, and it is a powerful tool for understanding what you are doing nutritionally, and for making future changes as things evolve, particularly in your post-op and later maintenance phases.

Some programs, like Kaiser's. will have a series of distinct classes for their pre-op patients while others will do educating via their nutritionist appointments or support group seminars.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
