Lol, love it! I'm bringing my glasses, socks, carmex, lotion, face wipes, phone, charger, fit bit, pony tail bands, my meds, underwear, comfy going home clothes, sports bra and slip on shoes. I'll bring pjs too but some hospitals make you stay in the gown so I usually just do that.

Deodorant, no-rinse facewash (micellar Water in my case), biotene dry mouth spray, phone and charger, ipad, movies/tv shows you don't have to pay attention to downloaded, non-slip slippers... one thing I didn't bring but realized I should have was a heating pad. Nurses brought me warmed blankets for my belly, but in that situation you're at the mercy of how busy they are. having heat and weight on my belly helped soooo much! honestly, that's it.

Yassss micellar water

The hospital I'm at is super restrictive so what I'm gonna do is bring two bags: first, a duffle bag full of condoms, sex toys, and whiskey shot packets so when they look in the second bag, stuff I actually want to bring, they'll be like.. well this isn't half as bad. I think it would satisfy the intake nurses of their desire to have power over someone to be able to tell me no to the duffle bag, but not fight with me afterwards about the phone, tablet, pillow, anti-fart strips, etc.

Lol HYLARIOUS!!!!!

Does any one of you know if we can have organic no sugars added coconut Water post op? That will help with dehydration if allowed.

Thanks for all the tips and ideas! Never would have thought of the heating pad or the small pillow.

lol it's funny reading the suggestions for what to bring. Believe it or not, you're not going to want to read or crochet a blanket. You'll be too drowsy from all the meds, trust me. But bringing slippers and your hygiene items is all you really need. The hospital has everything else

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
