I just had my surgery on the 28th and I was wondering if anybody experienced gurgling and gas pains when drinking liquids? Is it normal?

Walk walk walk. It really helped me. I couldn't walk much the first 2 days, but day 3 they said go to the gym. Well I dusted off my elliptical and that definilty eased the pains.

I would do 5-15 minutes each time a few times per day.

Plus I am freaked out by the risk of blood clots. 😱

I had such horrible gas pain, I couldn't even sit down! I would aimlessly walk around my living room at all hours of the night literally in tears praying it would go away. I know everywhere I looked all I saw was people saying "walk, just walk! gotta walk!" and it annoyed me so bad because I was walking but I was still in so much pain, but sadly they were right. I tried gas-x strips and chewable Mylanta but they didn't work. I literally walked nonstop and then one day everything just "relieved" itself. Although I will say, once you can have greek yogurt, that helped my stomach gas a lot surprisingly!

Had surgery a day after you and I'm going through the same thing. When I drink I kind of have a bit of heartburn feeling.

I was 3/21 and had that for about a week. I'm 10 days out now and it's mostly gone ( only a couple times a day now, if that). It gets better! I found that taking gas x and then walking while drinking helped a lot.

I had mine the 28th as well. Managing gas pain by walking for 15-20 minutes every time I eat. Barely getting in 40 g of Protein.

I had my surgery the same day, and have now realized that when I feel the pain and hear the gurguling it means I am drinking too fast. I drank my Protein Shake too fast this morning, and really paid for it afterward!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
