Protein shake is too sweet

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. It's my first post here. I had my surgery on 13/3/2017 .I'm almost two and half weeks post open and I've lost abt 14 pounds till now. Now on my journey of wt stall since last three days but am mentally prepared for the stall as I've read here that it's quite normal. I bought Isopure Dutch chocolate Protein Shake. Now the problem is.... Can't take it down my throat. It tastes damn sweet. Any tips to make it a bit less sweet? I even tried reducing its quantity in Water or milk but still the same result. Need help

I would only use Water and like you have, make it with more than suggested.

Have you tried adding ice?

I have stuck to the same Protein Drinks before surgery and still like them although they are sweet too.

Congrats on the surgery and weight loss !!

Try some powdered Peanut Butter or some dark chocolate cocoa powder (unsweetened, of course). Both have helped me. So has mixing in some almond milk.

Almond milk with no added sugar can cut it down.

I've done that, but now it's so hard to get them down that I don't want to Add any more volume. The premiere Protein Shakes can be a bit sweet too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
