My surgeon upped my liquid diet a few days and it is a big struggle. I feel horrible and have loose stool etc. so sleepy too. I have done a colonoscopy so this is not as bad. I had a few pretzels today on accident but I'm back on track. It's hard... really hard

My surgery is the 6th too! I think you're the only other person I've seen whose surgery is the same day as mine! :)

Hi,

How is your pre op diet going? Let's be surgery buddies?

The pre-op diet is going okay. I have it easier than some, doing it only for a week and with 3 Protein Shakes a day and then a Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine meal for dinner. But I will admit, I am hungry. But I also know it won't kill me. I started it early on Sunday because I wanted to lose a few pounds before my pre-op visit (so I put myself through this a few days longer than I needed to already). But I did have one last cheat meal on Wednesday night and sadly I didn't even like it/enjoy it. How is the pre-op diet going for you?

I could understand how challenging the pre op diet can be. One thing I started doing was actually applying those changes nutritionist gave us before I was given a surgery date. I gave up soda, starches, sweets and all the bad stuff. Was I perfect? No, but I was giving myself that head start. It's a mental thing and if we have an addiction to food then Getting further help would give you a more positive outcome after surgery. Maybe you're aren't ready and need to change your relationship with food. But don't give up. You got this!!! It takes some longer to give up food that gave us "comfort" so don't feel down if you have to reschedule. Remember you want to be safe and healthy after surgery. You don't want to be tempted the week after surgery because you didn't make those changes Before hand. Talking with your doctor will help a great deal. Just be honest 100%. Good luck to you and sending you all the positive vibes in the world.

Hi, It is very hard! My surgery is April 6. Hoping to stay good till then! I can be your buddy if you like?

My surgery is April 13th. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I heard gas x strips help a lot with gas pain. Best of luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
