My family....the only ones that know I had the surgery.....think nothing of my sliming now. One kid will come into the kitchen and say wheres Mom and the other responds...she is sliming, she will be back in a minute!!

We should make bibs with the catch pocket at the bottom like the babies have that say slime happens instead of spit happens!!!!! Throw that on during dinner....and never have to leave the table!!!LOL

You guys crack me up!

Y'all are sooo funny. I think my co-workers are looking at me like I'm crazy because I'm in my office laughing (alone!) :Banane30:

I have only been tight enough to get stuck once and that was while I was getting the fill (applesauce wouldn't go down) - I thought I was going to drown in my own spit.

I spit food into paper napkins when I know it's not going to go down well and I'm a burpin' fool now!

Yea Band!!:heh:

I was visiting with my grandkids last week and the daughter-in-law had cooked dinner (thats unusual in itself) I had taken a bite of garlic bread...chew chew chew...woops....a HAIR! ! ! ! Out came the whole bite with a 12in hair attached. DIL almost threw up, I apologized, but it was HER hair. Gag me, thats what I got for trying to eat bread!

I am beginning to exeprience the PB thing too. things get stuck as I often go back to old habits of chowing stuff down. I am beginning to learn as I am new to this. well its nice to know I cant just pig out anymore with a nasty burp. It has happened to me during staff meetings. I know its going to get worse when i get more fills. only one fill so far. FUN!

OMG...great thread.

Yes, I know the feeling. All I can think of is the movie The Fly, when Jeff Goldblum regurgitated his food..and then looked over and said.."Oh, that was gross, wasn't it".....lol.

I don't even think anything of it anymore.

Non-bandsters get really grossed out when I tell them about the PB'ing.

Also, I do some pretty weird stuff to my food when I'm eating...like just picking the top layer off a piece of pizza or just eathing the crust.

I went to a wedding this weekend and a friend who does not know about the band starting actually yelling at me.."Eat your Food". She just thought I was probably preoccupied or something and I needed to start eating.

OH well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
