Hey guys,

It's me again. So I'm about 1 month and some changed post op. I had the RNY. According to my scale I've lost 39 pounds since then. I'm still unable to eat solids. When I eat it feels like it's stuck in my esophagus and I have to make my self throw up to feel relief. I'm slowly but surely increasing my Protein and Water count so that's good. I haven't started exercising because I have no energy.

Now, here's the problem

I don't see or feel a difference. I look the same. My clothes fit the same. I'm starting to believe my scale is broken and I really didn't lose anything because this is ridiculous. To me 39 pounds is a big number. I would like to see something. At least a dress size. I'm discourage because of it and frustrated.

When did you guys start noticing a difference?

I am 9 months out and didn't see a change until I started taking pictures once a month and comparing them. I have now went down 10 Jean sizes and lost 130 pounds. I know what you are going through, don't give up keep going.... Congratulations on losing 39 pounds so far!!! That's an achievement I didn't even do that my first month.

Thanks so much. I think that's the hardest part for me. I want to see my results. I want to feel better. I still feel like a fat log. I'm not looking for microwave results but a little something

I am almost 6 months post op and I still see myself as overweight. However if I see myself in the mirror I just stare because I don't recognize the person looking back at me. I know you want to lose weight as fast as you can (or faster) but you will lose at your own rate. You are doing great. Keep a positive attitude and don't sweat the little things. We are all in this together. Like family.

I don't want to alarm you but...have you talked to your Surgeon? If not maybe you should be tested for STRICTURES. They are loke scar toissue and it makes your opening to small. To be honest I was on Protein Drinks for the fiirst 4 weeks after my RNY. I am 3 and 8 months out. But I had problems with keeping any food down. I had 5 endoscopes with 4 dialations. I had my surgery July 2, 2013. By Sept I started having issues. My 1st endo was in Nov, then Dec of 2013. Jan of 2014, July 2014. Also my last one was Jan of 2015. What you are describing is exactly how mine went. I couldn't even keep down Water. The good news is that it is a easy fix. They put you out do the scope and wake you back up. Please check with your DR. As for noticing your weight loss it does take us awhile. Our minds are the hardest to convince that we are losing weight and we still see the fat. Measure for sure!! Take a lot of pictures to keep track of your progress. I only wish I had, I just didn't want to see the big numbers so I didn't take my measurements. I am sorry now. Because you will lose inches when the scale says you are not losing weight!! Also, take a picture in a door way, you can really see your weight loss there. Good Luck and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

4 hours ago, Justweight said:

I copied this from Chelly a member on this site who has had gastric bypass a few years ago.

STOP IT NOW UNLESS YOU WANT MAJOR PROBLEMS......

What you are doing is very dangerous and you can destroy your insides badly.

You are acting like a bulimic person with making yourself throw up.

You should not be eating Kraft mac & cheese that's not good for you in any shape or form.

You should not wait the three weeks and you should call first thing in the morning and talk to the surgeons office and tell them what you have been doing to yourself. They will probably not be happy at all that you are making yourself throw up.

You must stop immediately so you don't do harm your body and permanent damage.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
