Im not sure if depression comes from my surgery or just what. I just want to cry and stay in bed. I try to get up and walk and move around But i get out of breath so fast. I just feel helpless and my surgery will be a week ago tomorrow. Well i guess I'll go to bed. Good night.

I felt the same exact way! I kept asking myself "what did i do?" i'm 9 days post op and honestly my first 7 days were brutal, but when i woke up on day 8 a lot of my pain was gone. it was the craziest thing. i was shocked how overnight most of my pain was gone. keep your head up and be strong. it is hard, but once you start feeling better and the pain goes away it's smooth sailing.

This surgery can beat you down as much mentally as it does physically. I spent my first week in the hospital due to complications, but the first week at home was rough too. Went through the same thing - tired easy, ran out of breath from doing the simplest things, down in the dumps...had it all. You have to keep positive and remember that this is only temporary. Soon you'll be looking back and thinking this was no big thing. Hang in there!

It could just be after-effects from anesthesia. I tend to be forgetful, weepy, and super-emotional for a few weeks after any surgery I've had. Good luck & hope you feel better soon!

I am 8 days post op, and I have same problem. Still getting out of breath quite easily, and super emotional. I assumed hormones were to blame for my emotions, but maybe it is the anesthesia. I've have the same problems for a little while after each time I've gone under. This recovery definitely has not been as easy as a lot of people have said. The gas pains alone have been brutal. But everyone is different. Cheer up, Slimntrim, and hang in there!! You made the best decision for your health and well-being. You are gonna rock this!!💕

You gotta keep on walking girl! So, shopping is therapy to me lol and my husband just had the idea we run to the store to walk around so I have a basket to lean on, too. Try walking about somewhere you enjoy. You can't heal without walking so hang in there.

It's because you are adjusting to life without food as your coping mechanism. It will get better in time. Get into therapy and look for new ways to self soothe

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
