Does anyone have a rash..........

Recommended Posts

I've lost 25 lbs since August 22 and have my first fill this coming Friday. I have a rash on my upper thigh (where the crease between the thigh and stomach) Since I lost the weight, the extra skin is hanging on the crease of my thigh and causing a rash. I've been putting powder to dry the area. Has anyone experience this???

weight.png</p&

I had a similar problem under my breasts. :) I went to my dr and found out it was yeast from the antibiotic shot they gave me before surgery. All cleared up now. You should probably have a dr look at it to be sure.

I've dealt with this for years and it will only get worse the more weight I lose -- until I finally lose enough to get surgery!

Make sure the powder you're using is not MEDICATED. It can actually aggravate the problem if it is yeast-related.

Monostat sells a Anti-Chafing gel that is awesome. Only problem is its a little pricey (about $6-$7 at Wal-Mart) and I hate that it gets wasted on my hands. I wish they'd put it in a roll-on container instead of a tube.

Otherwise, shower frequently. Towel dry and I lay down on the bed in front of a fan and twist, turn and tug until I get all those areas really throughly dry before I dress.

Good luck....I know your misery.

Hey babydoll,

Was lurking on the Aug thread (I'm a september finer niner!) to see what up and coming issues I may experience and came across your thread. I've lived with chafing for the longest time, but since I started this regime - I've only had it it once in a while in the summer (like when I leave on a wet bathing suit too long).

When I get out of the shower/bath I use a hair dryer and blow dry any areas I may get chafed - especially under the breasts and in between my thighs. I folow up with Cornstarch powder (NOT talcum powder which I heard can cause cancer when used in the vaginal area). Johnson and Johnson makes a cornstarch powder and it's located right next to the regular talcum powder and is in the SAME type of container.

In the rare case that is gets really raw, any anti-fungal cream can work - I think it was called Lotrimin? But ask your local pharmacy - they have it over the counter - no prescription needed.

Hope this helps!

Brenda

Your welcome... Yes, in my case it was a type of yeast infection (I believe the name is Intertrigo - which is a yeast infection in the skin folds). Any anti-fungal creme helps. Look for anything that has "clotrimazole" in it. (You do not want to use cortisone cream, that can make it worse). If my "remedies" don't show any improvement in a couple days please let your doctor know. Mainly keeping the area dry will keep it from returning. Like I said, since I blowdry and cornstarch after every shower, I haven't had it in years (except an occassional beach day here and there).

Here's a link about it: Intertrigo - Yeast Infection in Skin Folds

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
