Does anyone have any suggestions for spouses that are also overweight but not enough for surgery and are having a tough time with you losing weight so fast? My wife is feeling bad that she isn't.

I'm not sure if my wife is upset or mad, but we did talk about it. I think it does affect her, though she doesn't admit to me. She's started to make small changes like, switching her soda to crystal light, eating less carbs and eating smaller meals. She thinks it will make me feel bad for not being able to eat if she eats in front of me because i have noticed her eating in the kitchen more. :) She's so sweet.

I'm not sure you've checked out the ketogenic diet by lyle mcdonald. It's sort of what we are doing after WLS but with more fat in the diet. Your wife may find that this works for her weight loss. It's the same principles of the LCHF diets and I know it works if you keep with it. I couldn't keep with it unfortunately and turned cheat meals into cheat days and then cheat weeks. You know the story.

After WLS, we are more or less in a constant state of ketosis so you wife may benefit from it.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor or nutritionist. If i was i probably wouldn't have needed to be sleeved. Just friendly advice from one friend to another.

So my Dr said the pain is due to the internal stitches hit a nerve. I also have had Constipation. The pain pills were causing it the first couple weeks. Although I still have pain when I bend to far or lay on my sides it is seeming to get better little by little.

I too have constipation. I thought constipation hurt and you felt miserable but I don't experience any of that. I just can't go without a pill. Dr. said i need to drink more Water but i'm getting anywhere from 5-6 cups per day. Which I know isn't enough but thats more that I was doing pre surgery.

Anyone having problems with dry skin? I'm sure its probably because i need more water but seems my skin is extremely dry. Like taking a hot shower in the winter time dry.

I found this while reading articles about working out. Wondering if any of you that reported a stall have moved passed it. If not, this article had some good information so I thought I'd share.

I got a big jar of coconut oil and slather it on every time I pass by. Works wonders. I'm supposed to drink 96 oz of liquid a day with half containing electrolytes. Very hard

Hi everyone. I wanted to check in and see how all you April 3rd people are feeling.

i am finally feeling better. I JUST started eating soft foods 4-5 days ago. Nobody knew why I couldn't keep anything down but, I'm baby stepping now!!

On the positive side I have lost 103 ponds since surgery.

Congrats on the weight loss and soft foods I'm sure this is all good for you from here.

Im feeling great weight keeps coming off, clothes keep being changed for smaller ones and lots of NSVs like leg crossing, fitting into airline seats etc ticked off.

I struggle with food, I do better when taking the Prilosec that stops me from feeling sick. But eating is a bit of a chore I don't enjoy much. That's kind of frustrating as it makes things difficult. Always having to explain yes the food is great I just can't eat much. That gets me down a bit.

But it's a small price to pay.

I chose RNY over a sleeve because I was promised I would never have reflux again....LIE!! I am just as bad now as before and take 2 Zantac a day.

Easting is awful. I never know what is going to stay down and what will have me heaving after I baby bite. Frustrating but...I look great.

i am still VERY weak. Anyone else weak?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
