yanks19fan 1 Posted March 27, 2017 I am almost 4 weeks post op. When will I be able to eat sushi rolls again??? 1 MzCoffee reacted to this
LittleLizzieLilliput 919 Posted March 27, 2017 I'm 5 months post op and I don't eat rice. It takes up all the room for Protein. I think you can have sushi once you've transitioned to full food. Just know that you might only be able to eat one or two pieces. 1 Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this
MrsPenguin 103 Posted March 28, 2017 I'm just over 4 months and had sushi for the first time the other day. I could only eat 2 pcs comfortably. I just made sure to chew thoroughly, as always. I consider it a treat since most of the time, Protein comes first.
The New Kel 1,312 Posted March 28, 2017 I ate sushi (actually sashimi....no rice!), at 4 weeks post op. But please check with your surgeon first! I was allowed to because sashimi is so soft. It goes down super easy and is super healthy. Just check with the doc first. :-) I love me some good sushi. I have it at least once a week, I just dont eat the rice. 1 Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this

LittleLizzieLilliput 919 Posted March 31, 2017 I wish I liked Sashimi, truth be told the raw part scares me so I've never tried. lol! I guess what I should say is "I wish I wasn't so afraid of raw fish that I would try Sashimi". lol! 1 Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this

clc9 644 Posted April 1, 2017 I had tuna and salmon nigiri for dinner (I'm a few days into being cleared for all foods, six weeks out on Wednesday). It was only 2.5 pieces (3rd piece no rice, just fish), but it all settled well and tasted good. 1 Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this
entrophykitten 14 Posted April 1, 2017 Instead of the normal rolls, look to see if the sushi chef can make you a Protein roll which is just a roll without rice...usually wrapped with soy paper, seaweed, or thin long slices of cucumber. If they don't offer a protein roll on the menu, most sushi chefs will gladly make you a custom roll! 3 Seattle WLS Newbie, MzCoffee and Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this
smg 471 Posted April 7, 2017 Sashimi was one of my favorite sources of Protein when I was first back on solid foods. I stay away from rice completely, but still have sashimi quite often. Most of the sushi "rolls" typically have some sugar component in the the sauces in addition to the rice so you need to watch for that as it will most likely be astray from your post-op diet provided by your surgeon/NUT. 2 Pup and Ms. McCray2009 reacted to this
