pattylove83 23 Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) So I was banded November 29th last year...it hasn't even been 6 months but I have not lost a pound. I've had 3 fills and really am able to still eat whatever I want. My surgeon and many other doctors have told me that I need to consider revising to the sleeve. I've started that process and I'm just wondering is my insurance actually going to cover this? My surgery wasn't even six months ago! I'm totally down and am jumping right on taking care of the requirements. Any advice for me?? I have blue cross blue shield of Illinois. Navigating the Wilderness 824 Posted March 28, 2017 Ugh, that is crappy. Did the surgeon who banded you say you needed a sleeve? And if so, why did he band you to begin with? 1 pattylove83 reacted to this
pattylove83 23 Posted March 28, 2017 I went through true results so the surgeon didn't actually ever consults with me beforehand. I recently found out that True Results and Lap Band are partners. Which made total sense and clears up why true results went out of business! Yeah it's super frustrating!! 1 LilEngine reacted to this
Navigating the Wilderness 824 Posted March 28, 2017 Well hell, that does suck. Yeah, Lapbands work for some people I suppose, I had mine for 5 years before I gave up on it. In quick terms, within 6 weeks of being sleeved I had lost 5 more pounds than I ever lost in the 5 years I was banded, so your situation is not abnormal. Will insurance cover it, IDK. It would depend on your insurance, soI would call them. I had to go through the whole six month BS before the lap band, but to revise to a sleeve I only needed to do 3 months. I'm sure every carrier is different. Either way, I wish you the best of luck, and results!! 1 pattylove83 reacted to this
pattylove83 23 Posted March 28, 2017 I just had an upper GI done...a requirement by the doctor and found out that the band isn't even put in correctly. I don't know what'll happen now!

Keep us informed, and stay positive!! 1 pattylove83 reacted to this
