Either my sleeve is broken or I'm freaking out. I've been able to drink a whole 11oz Protein Shake, bowl of broth and now a Jello today so far... Not all together but between 8 this morning and now... I'm freaking out because I feel like I've been able to eat soooo much today.. AND it didn't bother me to eat/drink at a normal pace....

OMG IT'S BROKEN [emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji27] [emoji27] [emoji27] [emoji27] [emoji27] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33]

When was your surgery?

I don't think you've "broken" your sleeve. They are usually triple stitched and, while I'm not an expert, I think it would be difficult (perhaps not impossible) to "break" your sleeve with liquids. Think the liquid would come back up. I would suggest you call your bariatric doctor to find out if they have any concerns about the amount of liquid you've consumed. Sounds to me like you're doing fine........but the doctor should be your guide ;-)

Well I know it's not "physically" broken but it just seemed like that's a lot being 7 days post op... I have an appointment on the 30th, I'll definitely ask about it

The thing to remember is that liquids don't fill the stomach or leave the stomach at the same rate as solids. I'm 5 months out and I drink the same way I did before. I can't eat in the same way though. I think the point of sipping and going slow is about retraining your brain as much as it is about limitations.

Fluids don't stay in your stomach long. I'm 11 days out and can eat an 8 oz bowl of Soup in sitting (over 20 minutes or so). Water goes down easy too - one sip at a time.

It sounds to me like everything is ok, but if you are worried definitely call your doctor.

Is this post trolling or serious, I can't even tell.

I'm serious as a heart attack.... The first couple of days a few sips and I could feel everything. Now I don't really feel anything going down and it just seemed like I've consumed alot. I think in my mind I just figured it would always be a few sips and I'm full...

Liquids go right through your sleeve. You are supposed to be able to drink or you will dehydrate and die.

Be happy you are healing and drinking more.

I honestly think why it kind of freaked out because u was an emotional eater before the surgery and I've had a very emotional 2 days dealing with my husband.. Today was the first day I sat home alone since the surgery so in my mind I felt like I was emotionally "drinking" if that makes any sense..

I remember that about a week postop my stomach loosened (swelling went down). I went from only being able to drink .5 oz at a time to a 1-2 oz. Liquids give me very little restriction and it fades quickly. It's a sign that your body is healing.

I am concerned about your emotional eating issue. Your doctor should have worked with you to resolve that prior to surgery. I suggest you see a psych about it. Your surgery won't fix your emotions/habits only your digestive system.

Keep drinking until you are getting more than 64 oz. in all day. My nurse said the more the better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
