I'm about halfway through my two week pre-op diet, and yesterday I randomly started spotting, even though it's nowhere near that time in my cycle. I have dropped about 10lbs in the last week, so I assume it's due to that and my body is already starting to freak out about the rapid weight loss, but my cycles are pretty regular, so it's kind of freaking me out. Has this happened to anyone else?

Don't panic, this happens to me everytime I lose more than 12lbs a month. As long as there is no pain, smell, itchy discharge then it's down to weight-loss and hormones but it's annoying.

If in major doubt and you have a chance of pregnancy then check immediately or speak to doctor in case.

Thanks! It all makes total sense, I just needed a spot of reassurance. (Pun not intended.)

As we know every woman is different but I've been spotting for about 4 months now and can't wait to get rid of the Nexplanon implant that's causing it due to the pcos.

How are you finding the diet?

Some days are easier than others. The first few days were certainly the worst, though I am struggling today for some reason. I find myself going to bed a little earlier than usual, partly due to fatigue, but mostly because nighttime is when I usually snack. On Saturday, I attended a soccer (sorry - football) match, where there was an open bar and free food, and I somehow managed to get through it, but it's not an experience I'd like to have again until I am much further along in this process.

Seeing the weight start to come off quickly has been a big motivator as well. For me, at least, the key has been making sure I am constantly sipping on something, so I stay relatively full. That being said, it's certainly not the worst thing that's ever happened to me, but I am very much looking forward to having this part done and over with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
