Doc goal vs My goal

Recommended Posts

My doctor wants me to get to a max weight of 200 pounds. I am currently at 240, 6'1 and feel 200 is too low. I feel my goal should be 220. Should I just wait til I get to 220 and see how I feel? Has anyone else faced this slight disagreement with their surgeon?

Yes me....I don't want to be 150 my personal goal for me is actually between 180 to 200....I have 2 friends we were same size before our surgery... 1 of them 140 the other one 180 and looking at them I honestly know I wanna be 200.....

The surgery is done, what you do at this point is up to you. I agree with your first thought, get to where you want to be and then decide.

I am doing the same as MowryRocks suggested. I am going to confirm my goal when I get closer to it. If I feel comfortable at a higher weight I'll stop there. But I do plan to lose about 10 lbs more than goal to account for regain.

I honestly liked my figure the best at 220. I was super curvy with a small waist and I could wear plus and regular sizes.

However, knowing that people gain weight as they age and still being a relatively young person, I have decided to lose as low as possible. So I have some bounce room to still stay under 200. So even though physically I am not interested in being smaller. I am shooting for the top of normal BMI so I have some wigglexperience room in the future.

I kept moving my goal. The habits you develop are supposed to last forever, right? So I'm sticking to the same diet and when I stop losing weight, I stop losing weight. I thought 210, then 200, then 180. Now I'm at 162 and wondering if 150 is possible. If there's an ounce of extra body fat on me, I'm assuming I can take it off.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
