Jeanne56 22 Posted March 27, 2017 I'm typically struggling to get my daily quota of 48 to 64 oz of liquid in each day and have a question...does a smoothie count as liquid? Silly question but I'm really curious. I sip a 12 oz smoothie each morning and so far have only been counting the 4 oz of almond milk I add but wonder if I could count the full 12 ozs. volfan 78 Posted March 27, 2017 watch the calories in the smoothy but the answer is yes if it is liquid it counts as liquid. The ice melts into Water, most of fruit is over 90 percent water 1 GBLady41 reacted to this
Jeanne56 22 Posted March 27, 2017 Thanks - I don't add ice but add 1/3 frozen banana, 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup Almond milk, a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder and a packet of Truvia. I was never quite sure how to count it as all but the almond milk is 'solid'.
GrrlAnn 177 Posted March 27, 2017 My doctor told me not to count any food or Protein Shakes toward my liquids. They told us "hydrating liquids" only (e.g. Water, Decaf tea, Crystal light).
GBLady41 393 Posted April 1, 2017 I was told by my NUT that if the 1st or 2nd ingredient is Water, then it is a liquid. And I was told by her that Protein Shakes count as both liquid and meal. So I count them as such. I am over three months out.
