I am almost 2 weeks postop… Have been doing great energy good… Now, the last three days I've been nauseous and very little energy, supposed to go back to work tomorrow… What is going on here?

You just had major surgery 2 weeks ago, that's what. To top it off, you are lacking proper calories and nutrition due to said surgery. It takes weeks, if not months, to recover from this surgery and to feel completely human again. Take it slow and easy, rest as much as you can and be kind to yourself.

As far as the nausea, I had it too around your time. I'd asked my surgeon for a some anti nausea meds. Your stomach was literally cut out and sewn back up. It's going to rebel a bit.

That's why they call it 'recovering' from surgery. It takes time.

How much time did you take off work? I figured two weeks was enough...now I am thinking I need more time

I took off for 6 weeks after my surgery. I cannot imagine having gone back before about 3 weeks, but honestly, I needed all of that time to recover physically, to devote myself 100% to meeting my Protein and Water goals, and to deal with the intense fatigue. And the fatigue was still a serious issue for me for the first 2 weeks after I did go back to work.

My advice is to take as much time as your personal, professional, and financial situations will allow.

Good luck!

6 weeks post op here and still have fatigue sometimes.

Not proven but here's what I think. Because we are on a pretty low calorie stage of our process our bodies are getting nutrients from our reserves. Namely fat! What's in our fat? Lots of toxins from all the bad food we ate over years! As you release these toxins it can make you feel fatigue and nausea. When I felt nausea especially, I would take a hot shower. It felt good to wash the toxins off my skin. Especially the underarms, groin area and feet. I started wearing deodorant instead of anti-perspirant. I also used peppermint soap. Great to detox and invigorate in the morning.

Worth a try to get you back to work:-)

Take care

It really depends on what kind of work you do and your recovery rate. I took 4 weeks off but should have really stayed off for 6, which is when I started to feel better. I have heard people here say they had surgery on the Thursday and was back in work on the Monday which I can't even imagine. I was so exhausted even 6 weeks out.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
