NewAdventure2016 131 Posted March 25, 2017 I'm finding that most of the weight charts for women are so skewed and although I will select a weight that fits me best I would like to see a reasonable chart for a good guideline. Recommendations? I'm 5'6" with a medium build and the ones I've seen lean toward the 130 pound range. I believe I would look like a skeleton according to what the charts tell me I should weigh! Dairymary 533 Posted March 25, 2017 Who cares what the scale number is or what some chart says? Just set your goal at a size where you feel good, are healthy, and like the way you look. 5 blest bliss, queendeborahbee, Newme17 and 2 others reacted to this
Julie norton 2,850 Posted March 25, 2017 My take is your body kinda decides where it's new set point is. And it wants to stay there. I can get lower but it wants to come back, Even after years of trying! I'll just stay where I am and be happy with a size 12 after all this time. 4 ProudGrammy, queendeborahbee, _Kate_ and 1 other reacted to this
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted March 25, 2017 My goal has been to get under 30 BMI. Physically I am pretty small, if I got down to the 150 range which is top for most women in our height range, I would be like a size 2 maybe even a 0. I'm almost and sometimes an 8 right now and I am upper 180s lower 190s. I really don't want to be smaller than a 6. I still have pounds of loose skin. If that was all gone right now I would be a 6 now. Even though BMI is BS and very skewed, it is the standard. My goal is to be at the top end of a normal BMI, even though I really do not want to be that small. I'll just be boobs and hair (breasts are not disappearing the more I lose the bigger they seem). 1 queendeborahbee reacted to this
Newme17 3,444 Posted March 26, 2017 Al depends on what your muscle mass is like too. I am 5'6" and used to be 145, but a size 7/8 and that was great. Then I used to think I was overweight. Good grief!!! I'd love to be that again, but my body has changed with pregnancies and just getting older. So, I agree with @Dairymary, just where you're feeling good and healthy. I love that you respond to people's posts, it's very helpful for all of us as you have loads of experience and have done a fantastic job of losing weight. You have almost lost ME. I started at 198lbs! Looks like you're not far off hitting your goal so keep up the great work, you're totally inspiring. 3 queendeborahbee, ProudGrammy and OutsideMatchInside reacted to this

OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted March 26, 2017 I wanted to add at my last DEXA scan my body fat was 34%. My goal is to get it 28% or lower. That should get me in a good BMI range. https://www.inbodyusa.com/blogs/inbodyblog/how-to-set-a-body-composition-goal-thats-right-for-you I am really big on DEXA scans as I feel like for a lot of us with excess skin it is the only accurate measure of body fat. You also get a lean mass so you can peg your Protein goals to your lean mass to maintain it. I have already passed my stretch size goal which was a 12. Now that I am smaller if I ever want to have plastics and have a good result I really feel like losing 20 more pounds is the key to that. We will see if I can accomplish it. My body seems very comfortable at the weight it is at. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
triplethreat 257 Posted March 30, 2017 I just used the Smart BMI calculator and it says that because I'm in a normal range for my age and height, there is no benefit to pursuing further weight loss. Very interesting as it's the only calculator that I've seen that allows me to input my age.
