char3672 292 Posted March 25, 2017 Hi. I am scheduled for sleeve surgery in June. I am pretty sure that I am going to NEED a nutritionist after my surgery. One that is experienced in bariatric surgery patients. I have been seeing one at the hospital where my surgery will be done, but I am not sure she is right for me. How would I go about finding someone? I tried googling it, but I only seem to be coming up with nuts from other surgical programs. Would they take an "outside" patient? blizair09 3,250 Posted March 25, 2017 You might start by searching for nutritionists that are in your insurance network. I know mine has several in my area, and yours might as well. Once you see if any are in your network, then you can look for reviews for that specific person/persons. 1 char3672 reacted to this

I just don't feel that the one I have at the hospital is knowledgeable enough. Ex. She didn't know what an example of a "hard" cheese would be. 1 blizair09 reacted to this

The one in my surgeon's practice is actually pretty good, but I figured out a long time ago that she couldn't help me very much. I know exactly what I need to do, and I just do it. That responsibility is on me... 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

That responsibility is on me...Maybe after surgery I'll see that I CAN do it myself. Maybe it's just my lack of confidance. I'm always afraid I'm doing things wrong. I DON'T want to fail at this!!!! Lillith 5 Posted March 26, 2017 I would recommend a dietician instead of a nutritionist. There are no national standards for nutritionists, so anyone can take an online course and call themselves one. Dietician go through a degree program and there are national standards 1 char3672 reacted to this
