Just curious how long it took you all to return back to work. I clean houses for a few friends. It's fairly easy I just dust, clean mirrors, vaccum, and the vaccum pretty much pulls it self. I do mop too. How long would it take me to get back to work?

Your surgeon will probably limit the weight you can pick up. I think I was limited to less than 10 pounds for the first few weeks. How heavy is that vacuum?

I was bending, lifting my two children (one toddler, one baby) a week later. I think its doable if YOU feel you are really ready. I knew my limitations from having c-sections (far more invasive in my opinion). And for my second csection I went in with a severe upper respiratory infection and immediately after the birth was back to extreme coughing and sneezing and none of the drs were the slightest concerned I was going to bust anything open. So with that knowledge I kind of disregarded the weight limitations. My house would have literally fallen apart if I had waited any longer to take care of kids and clean lol.

I had three csections, and did everything myself too. I also had my gallbladder removed, and was lifting an infant carrier a week later, my baby alone was 15 pounds then. Ive heard this is alot easier than both. I didn't take in pain meds after having my csections so I should be good. I just want to try to get back to cleaning after 2 weeks. I hope I feel like it by then. Thank you so much for your input it really puts me at ease :)

I didn't have a c-section, so I don't know the size of any internal incisions. I guess I'd just be cautious on the lifting, follow your doctor's orders. Although your external incisions are small, how long is that line of internal staples from where your stomach was removed? (I can't find anything online to answer this.) I think the internal incision(s) are what's guiding the restriction on lifting.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
