Hello, I'm hoping anyone can help me. I just had my MGB on Tuesday. As soon as I was allowed liquids I've had runny BM and still am. Did this happen with you and if so how long did it last. My Dr. says it's normal, but right now it sucks. Any insight you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I have the runny BM ever since starting my liquid Pre-op diet. My doctor says that it is normal because we are not getting enough Fiber right now and are living off of liquids. Once you start getting in soft foods it should start slowing down. Just make sure that you are drinking lots of Water to prevent dehydration.

Immediately after my RNY gastric bypass I became lactose intolerant. So anytime I drank milk or dairy or anything that contained lactose it resulted in an immediate trip to the restroom with diarrhea. This condition disappeared after a couple months. Be forewarned some Protein Shakes contain lactose.

Thank you, I'm trying to stay hydrated but that causes the runs too, I'll get through it.

Thanks!! You too.

I just saw a recipe on You Tube for chia seed pudding good for the soft mush stage. Soak them over night and add Protein Powder. They said it's full of fiber. I'm going to get some today and try it tomorrow for Breakfast. I haven't had anything of real substance so I'm it sure there is anything in there. Lol. 🙄

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
