March 31 Sleevers - anyone else out there?

Recommended Posts

Sounds like a good decision! I didn't even look at insurance here. I talked to several friends that went down to Mexico and decided it was good. Really convinced me when one of my good friends who is a nurse went down to the same place I'm going and said it was awesome. Not nearly as "fancy", but very adequate, sterile and good care. My sisters are freaking out on me though.

Yeah, I'm not telling anybody hardly. My husband, cousin (who's in the process) and 2 friends (1 who's in process). Nobody else!! People don't understand who are/have not struggle with their weight, and especially have not researched Mexico. It sounds crazy if you don't know about Mexico. You have to do what YOU have to do, and not let other's fears keep YOU from living YOUR BEST LIFE! A long, healthy, happy, feel good life. They won't carry your weight, your sorrow, your diabetes, your heart disease if you come down with these co-morbidities for not getting it in control....they mean well, but do what is best for you!

Being from the USA, I think we are so egotistical to think everyone else in the world is stupid and uneducated. And that is all these doctors do, I think mine does like four a day. I would think they would be pretty good at it.

April 1st here. I'm on day 2 of liquid diet. No fun, I'm hungry, got horrible headache!!! I'm doing what I gotta do and telling myself to remember the bigger picture. I know it can only get better from here. I'm getting my lapband out and getting sleeve.

I had my band out 12/13 and doc
Makes everyone wait 3 months to heal before giving the sleeve

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
