az062217vsg 40 Posted May 9, 2017 Still waiting for Aetna's decision. I called yesterday and it is still pending. They said it could take 15 business days, it's been 6. Hopefully soon! 1 Misha42000 reacted to this
ssflbelle 829 Posted May 9, 2017 I am so sorry you too are having trouble with Aetna Insurance. I hope they give you an answer soon as the waiting is very stressful. I was done with my 6 months supervised diet the week of Thanksgiving in Nov of 2015 but was not able to have surgery until Jan 26 2016. I too had trouble with the PCP not writing the letter. Two days before Christmas I went unannounced to his office and told him what he did was not acceptable and that he was the reason for my not having the surgery in in 2015 as had previously been discussed. I was going to sit here until he took the time to write that letter. He had the office manager write it up as he had dictated it but it was not written. It was sent later that day and I finally heard after Christmas that I was approved. However the surgeon went on a vacation for Christmas and the New year so I was scheduled for the end of January. I unfortunately stayed with my PCP and now that I am ready for skin removal surgery and am having troubles with him again.

I just heard from my surgeons office, and Aetna has denied my surgery. Now I will work on obtaining financing for self-pay and finding a new PCP. It's unfortunate, but honestly I am not too surprised.
ssflbelle 829 Posted May 9, 2017 Did they say why they denied you?

ssflbelle 829 Posted May 9, 2017 I am sure it is very frustrating to be denied. Did you have a 3 to 6 month supervised diet that brought your BMI too low? If you did the insurance was suppose to use your starting BMI not the one you are at now. I read that you had a letter with co-morbidities listed that you said you didn't have. Did you have him write a different letter? Maybe the Doctor knew your BMI was too low and wrote those co-morbities so you would be approved. How far away from the BMI are you? I am not saying you should gain but, I know some people have eaten to excess to get their BMI's up high enough so that they were accepted. Good luck in what ever direction you go.
