Just curious as to what percentage of your stomach your doctor removed?

Was told by my doc that it's normally 90% that they remove. I know they can use different bougie sizes but I never got into that detailed of a discussion.

That could very well be the same for me. There's so much generalization with WLS. I know I heard 90% a few times through all my consults, classes, and so forth. It could be a go-to number that most people grab even if it isn't accurate.

Given how much I could eat prior to surgery is sure as hell feels like there's only 10% left...lol

I don't think any Dr is really able to provide this number accurately. Every stomach is a different size to start with. They use the bougie as a guide but they can only get so close to it.

I saw my sleeve during my life swallow testate so I have a very good idea of its size and shape.

People always ask this question and unless you are planning a malpractice lawsuit, I don't see the point.

I was told 80-85% but it doesn't really matter as long as it works :D

I was told 85% was removed, but I sure that is more of an estimate than an exact amount. It doesn't really matter to me as long as the sleeve as a tool is effective for me. And it is!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
