Deactivatedfatgal 377 Posted March 24, 2017 Just curious as to what percentage of your stomach your doctor removed?
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 24, 2017 Was told by my doc that it's normally 90% that they remove. I know they can use different bougie sizes but I never got into that detailed of a discussion.

There's so much generalization with WLS. I know I heard 90% a few times through all my consults, classes, and so forth. It could be a go-to number that most people grab even if it isn't accurate. Given how much I could eat prior to surgery is sure as hell feels like there's only 10% left...lol 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Deactivatedfatgal 377 Posted March 24, 2017 Right?! Lol, I feel same way. I use to always say My stomach was a bottomless pit hahaha
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted March 24, 2017 I don't think any Dr is really able to provide this number accurately. Every stomach is a different size to start with. They use the bougie as a guide but they can only get so close to it. I saw my sleeve during my life swallow testate so I have a very good idea of its size and shape. People always ask this question and unless you are planning a malpractice lawsuit, I don't see the point.
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted March 24, 2017 I was told 80-85% but it doesn't really matter as long as it works 2 ProudGrammy and Newme17 reacted to this
blizair09 3,250 Posted March 24, 2017 I was told 85% was removed, but I sure that is more of an estimate than an exact amount. It doesn't really matter to me as long as the sleeve as a tool is effective for me. And it is! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
