JRaye 63 Posted March 23, 2017 I went to my "Post-Op" Class yesterday and found out that during the first week I have to drink 1 ounce of Water every 15 minutes for a total of 64 ounces a day so that I won't get dehydrated. We were told to set a timer so we are getting this Fluid down every 15 minutes. I did the math and if we actually do this we are going to have to be awake for 16 hours a day. If we are recovering from surgery, how are we supposed to be getting any rest if we are awake for 16 hours every day for a week? Would you experienced sleevers please explain to me how you got through this week doing this? (My surgery is scheduled for April 6th.) 1 ericaseymore reacted to this
Syaniya 319 Posted March 23, 2017 I also went to my last appt yesterday (getting sleeved 3/31) and they told me although we would love you to get 64 oz. in, it normally doesnt happen, but that 48 oz. is a must.
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 23, 2017 The main idea behind it is to get you in the mindset of being aware to drink consistently. During the first two weeks at home I kept a bottle next to my bed. If I woke up in the middle of the night (which was often) I took a drink. It helps to have something to actually keep track of your Water intake. I prefered to reuse a 32 oz Powerade bottle. You can do it with about anything as long as it has an accurate measurement. Just focus on drinking as often as you can and you should be fine. Don't forget your Protein Shakes will count towards your daily water goals too.
arringtonc49 188 Posted March 23, 2017 I was told Protein Drinks does not count as Water intake. But Jello and Popsicles does.
