It depends on what it is, but I'd say about 4-4.5 oz max. (As an example, I can 3.5 oz of salmon with 1 oz of green Beans, but I can only eat 2.5 oz of hamburger steak with 1 oz of green beans. I could probably eat more than 4.5 oz of cottage cheese, but I restrict myself to a 4 oz portion because of the carbs.)

I'm kinda nervous because I'm already at 8oz. Like today, I had grilled chicken parm, I cut it up and filled up an 8oz container . I didn't weight it tho .. but I feel like I'm eating too much now . It does depend on the food but I don't go over 8 oz even though sometimes I feel hungry still

5.5 oz's max. Usually 4. But if I'm super hungry or I'm on my period than I can eat a little more. Not sure why.

I don't drink liquids before or after eating and I follow the guidelines pretty strictly. Though I am human and make choices sometimes to veer off and eat something purely decadent. lol! What happens is I end up being hungry pretty quickly afterwards. I find when I stick to the Protein rich diet I'm hungry 4 times a day. If I eat stuff that isn't protein heavy I will be hungry again within an hour.

I can eat about 3 oz of really dense Protein like chicken or beef, or 4 oz of soft fish like salmon or cod, usually accompanied by about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vegetables (I only weigh my protein). If I'm eating Soup, I can do about a cup now, depending on how much dense protein it contains. I eat about 1/2 cup of greek yogurt, with maybe 10 blueberries, in the morning.

I'm 9 mos out yesterday.

I can eat about 2oz of chicken or fish and a couple bites of vegetables but if I drank a shake 11oz eazy yogurt 6oz very easy. I call those my sliders easy down hungry later but if I'm feeling sick it does help w getting Protein in

Hi there, 6 months here. I eat about 3oz of meat and then some veggies and 1/4 -1/2 cup of rice/pasta. Sometimes no carbs and more veg, depends on how I feel. I've lost 73 now. But I would suggest weighing the food to be sure of the amount.

I can't agree more. I have a scale at work and home. It's invaluable to me. Because food can be deceptive and our eyes aren't always the best measuring cup. lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
