I got cleared to eat regular food. My doctor told me to eat 3 times a day, no snacking. I need ideas on what other people are eating.

So you're 4 weeks post-op now? They didn't give you an actual list of foods that were okay to eat? At 4 weeks I was cleared to eat about 85% of regular foods. Take caution introducing anything new. My NUT gave the okay for things like chicken, tuna, ground beef, etc. at that point. She recommended staying away from denser meats like steak that might sit heavier in your stomach. Measure out your portions, chew the hell out of everything, and make a meal last 15-30 minutes.

My doc also wants me at 3 meals a day but there is no way I can get my Protein in with only 3 meals. I'm 8 weeks as of today and I'm still at 1/2 cup a food for most things. Something like cottage cheese I can eat a bit more of. I can hit my protein goal with 3 meals if I include a Protein Shake. Otherwise I'd constantly come up short. I'm not one to tell somebody to go against their doctor's instructions but starting out you really should consider doing 5-6 smaller meals for a day. I try to eat something about every 3 hours. Depending on my day there are those I don't eat as much and have my shake, and others I try to focus on getting all my protein in through good sources.

There are a ton of threads on the site for meal ideas that can be found with a bit of searching.

I do not understand this 3 meals a day philosophy that some teams cling to. There is no way in the world (even at nearly 6 months post-op) I could get 100 grams of Protein in 3 meals. I eat 7 times per day, about 2 hours apart. And I've lost 182 pounds. Obviously, eating more often, at least for me, is not prohibitive to weight loss.

In terms of what to eat, I would suggest focusing on lean protein and non-starchy vegetables. I would stay away from rice, Pasta, potatoes, corn, bread, sugar, etc. Even at my stage, I still eat string cheese and cottage cheese daily. I would establish some macros that you want to serve as parameters for your daily eating, and then choose good foods (as mentioned above) accordingly.

Good luck!

i am at 8 weeks as well and eat about 3-4 bites tops of most things . I have one Protein Shake and try to eat Protein throughout the day in small meals . cheese, chicken, yogurt, Peanut Butter, hummus more meat etc along with Water . Theres the medical way and then there is the way that suits u and lifestyle ,consider doing 5-6 smaller meals for a day i think its easier then .

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
