For myself I didn't need any help. I was cleaning from the time I got home lol. Although I became fatigued quickly. I forgot I wasn't allowed to pick heavy things up or mop the floor but both I did.
Everyone is different and honestly you won't know until you are home. But you would be in bed when your hubby is at work and getting up for the loo is no problems.
Have you got young children that need picking up? That maybe a problem.

You should be fine through the night. My husband was able to take a week off, but I really didn't need the help.

I was very sore, but could still get up on my own to get to the bathroom and get back and forth to the kitchen, etc., with no help at all. You might be pretty sore the first few to several days. My worst day was day 4, but after that the pain started easing up. I have seen people on here say that they never really had much pain and some didn't even need pain meds. It varies from person to person.

Good luck!

My mom stayed with me for five days but honestly, I took care of myself the entire time. Worst thing for me has been the main incision site pain, which is not unbearable if I hold the area, stopped pain mess on 3 dpo.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
