Marchies in October!

Recommended Posts

I got on the scale this morning and I'm 193.5. Damn!!! So my goal is still 180 by x-mas, but now I have 13.5 lbs to lose.

This morning I had a yogurt, lunch was a sald with lean ham and turken, 1 tbs of dressing, raisins, 1 tbs of cheese and 1 tbs of croutons. Thats 315 cals. The yogurt was 80 cals. So thats 395 cals so far today. I plan on having some cheese for a snack, 80 cal, and 1/2 cup of grapes, 55 cals. That leaves me with 470 cals for supper. My plan is to eat like this all week and see where I am at weight wise on Monday. I want to keep to 1000 cals per day (I am not adding my coffee with 2 tbs of hot cocoa, this is another 80 cals, but I decided that this will be my "cheat" for the day because I don't count it) I know I need to keep my Protein up but this week I want to be all about the calories. If I need to adjust to get either more or less, I will know by next monday. Does this plan sound stupid? If so, what should I change?

Hey Marchies! I'm celebrating--reached ONE-derful ONE-derland this weekend and I'm staying there forever! I even weighed late last night "to be sure" because I always weigh several lbs more at night and sure enough, even at my heaviest time I was 199.3. Woohoo!

My last fill (my 10th) really helped. I finally feel like a bandster--small servings, golf ball and hiccups sometimes, breakfasts are hard to get down, I'm not hungry all the time, I'm losing weight, etc. I have a fill scheduled on Wednesday and can't decide whether or not to cancel. I also have one for two weeks after that so I may skip this one to give myself more time at this level and then take that next one if I need it before Thanksgiving. What do you think?

Happy Halloween! Enjoy those pretzels, Juli. We're right there with you.

CONGRATS momlambert....that has to be the best feeling ever. Knowing that you are under 200lbs and that because you have the band you are going to stay there!!! Thats the best!

Mamma Lambert,

Congrats girl!!!

From my experience I would not get another fill, you sound pretty close to your sweet spot to me.

You are losing but can still eat somewhat comfortably, I say stay put.

I was a little looser then you are now, got a fill, thought I was ok, over a span of a couple weeks the band got so tight. The Pbing started which i could not get under control. I had to have a complete unfill, now I am struggling to get restriction. I have gained 7.5 lbs in the mean time and am fighting to get those off. If I would have just stayed with my nearly sweet spot fill I would have been probably down a good 10 lbs.

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks, Janine. Your advice is worth a lot more than 2 cents! I think you are right--why mess with a good thing right now? I'll wait until November and see how things are going by then and decide whether or not to get a small fill then. But, right now, I'M HAPPY!

Momlamber-I would stay where you are for now and see what happens. You are doing great.

Janine-You are doing great even without the fill. Be proud of the lbs you have lost and keep up the great work.

Jmcambra-Way to go with the exercise challenge. What type of exercise are you doing? I am trying to get into it, but so far by the time I get home I am ready for bed.

Jeni85-Looking good, keep it up and can't wait to see your 1 year photos.

OH Julie-Man you are kicking some butt. 93 lbs since March!!! WOW! You are my hero.

Well, now me. I had spaghetti last night for a total of 340 cals. Another cup of grapes for a grand total of 980 cals for the day. I was hungery before bed but I decided to come to grips with it and not snack like I have done in the past. I do think that I will have to up my cal to 1100 per day because I don't want to enter that starvation mode and keep everything I put in. We will see what today brings. Hope to get off my butt and exercise tonight.

Mrs Husker - I know I won't make my goal this month, I had the flu in the beginning of the month and I really couldn't do anything for a week. Anyways, I've been doing a combination of running, spinning, elliptical, and strength training with a personal trainer. It totally made me plateau; in 2 months I haven't lost a single pound, but I've lost 10 inches, and I know I'm getting a lot stronger, so I'm not too worried...

Mrs. H, As much as I wish I'd lost 93 since March it's just not true. That number includes 23 pounds I lost from January to March presurgery.

But thanks for the props. :)

Welcome to Onederland Momlambert!

You look Great Jeni!

How long are we supposed to go back on liquids after a major PB/stuck episode? I had a rough lunch break today :). It was on a piece of smoked sausage....

Sophie, every doc is different so you may want to check. My doc doesn't require going back to liquids, some docs want to see a patient on liquids for 3 days. Try some warm Soup for dinner and play it by ear tomorrow, or double check with doc...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
