Hey Everybody, my name is Bethany and I am brand new to this site. I am about 17 days away from my surgery, and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I've bought my Protein Shakes, and my Protein Bars according to my dietary recommendations, but I'm wondering if anybody has any recipes that they've used for their meals? Any advice would be appreciated!

Is your pre-op all liquid or shakes plus one small meal? My pre-op was ultra low fat and under 1000 calories a day. I used My Fitness Pal to track my calories. I would do a shake for Breakfast. A shake and a small salad with about 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinaigrette for lunch and dinner would be lean Protein and a big salad. And a crap ton of Water.

For shakes, I would take 1 cup of coffee (cold) and mix it with a caramel Premier Protein shake and ice in the blender with a little sugar-free chocolate Syrup. 30G protein Frappucino with about 160 calories.

Or I'd take 1/2 cup of fruit, ice and an vanilla premier Protein Shake into the blender. There are tons of shake recipes out there.

Hello Bethany!
My pre-op diet consists of 4-6 Premier Protein shakes a day for 6 days before surgery, along with Bariatric Fusion Vitamins (2 in morning, 2 at night). My surgery will be April 3rd.

Are you allowed a small meal during your Pre-op diet? I picked up some PB2 to mix with chocolate shakes. I'm thinking it may taste like a Peanut Butter cup.

Good luck!

My liquid / liver shrinking diet starts tomorrow. I may only total 500 calories per day, liquids only. This goes on for 2 weeks, no caffeine. :( - anyone else?

Mine so far has been

Premier Protein chocolate w/ 2 shots espresso for breakfast

lunch has been personal size chicken salad and spinach or another premier Protein Shake

snack is a string cheese

dinner is a Protein and veggies

With my job there was no way I could only survive on liquids. I start three days of liquids Sunday. So, I'm trying to get more of that now versus food. But, my headaches get so bad towards the afternoon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
