carter7165 21 Posted March 18, 2017 I'm having body image issues. I've lost 35 pounds, down to 160 but I still feel like a whale.
Shell ???? 224 Posted March 19, 2017 I hear what your saying and can relate I found it took my mind a lot longer to catch up people were saying oh my you've lost so much weight you look amazing I felt the same as I always did like a whale and then a couple of months ago I'm almost a year out I was like wow look how much smaller I am I looked at photos and couldn't believe my eyes and the size clothes I buy now blow my mind but sometimes my mind and body are not on the same page. 2 carter7165 and prisi84 reacted to this
ssbthodge 92 Posted March 19, 2017 I completely agree! I have the same problem. I am still early in my journey but I am 6weeks post op and have lost 37 lbs since my pre-op diet. I have lots of people telling me oh my you look great how much have you lost now? But I don't feel like I've lost anything. My clothes do fit a little different so that does make me feel like I have lost but when I look in the mirror I still feel like I look like I did 6 weeks ago. But like Shell ???? Said, it's like my mind hasn't caught up to my body. 1 carter7165 reacted to this
EmmyJ 184 Posted March 19, 2017 @ssbthodge, I'm in your boat. Even though I've lost almost 30 pounds since the surgery 5 weeks ago and about 45 pounds from my highest, I look in the mirror and see absolutely nothing different. Fat, fat, fat. Same with pictures! But the people close to me swear up and down that the change is real. Sigh.

One of these days though we will get to say look how much I've changed! Good luck on the rest of your journey!! 1 carter7165 reacted to this
Ldyvenus 317 Posted March 19, 2017 It's funny, around 30 lbs. Seems to be when people notice. I look at myself naked in the mirror every morning. I usually try to find something I like no matter how hard it is. I am 35 lbs. down and I look less bloated overall, and my face is much less puffy. The best advice on this site is to take measurements and pictures. It can help you see how far you've come and get you through the stalls. 1 carter7165 reacted to this
