You answered your own question. You added mayo and mustard, liquids, to make it mushier and easier to eat. If you add liquids to things making them sliders you will be able to eat large amounts of everything. You are working around your sleeve.

That aside, being able to eat 2 mushy eggs doesn't mean your sleeve is too big. If anything it means you are healing well.

This soon after surgery, it's not unusual to not feel "full." The nerves in your stomach were cut, and the stretch receptors are going to take a bit before it starts registering in your brain again.

I feel that most people who claim to feel "full" right after surgery aren't really feeling a physical fullness so much as they are just not very interested in eating, which is also totally normal after surgery. Until your nerves start picking up and sending signals again, measuring how many ounces you are eating is the best way to make sure you don't over do it.

When does the nerves start working again? I'm 5 weeks out and I haven't felt any retriction. I measure my foods. I don't feel hungry after eating. I've had no vomiting like alot of people after they eat.

We have to restrict ourselves. I mean I wouldn't think that you just eat until you feel full. You must set boundaries for yourself restrict yourself. Be strong not weak Only the Strong Survive.

Some feel restriction more than others. I have never been one of those " I can barely drink 3oz" people. 2nd week post op I was drinking 33oz bottles of Water in less than 30 seconds. When it was time for solids, I felt more discomfort than restriction. Eating slowly made it worse..

At 6 weeks post op, I could eat 2 boiled eggs easy. What I have learned to do is measure (take note of) what I eat. I can't rely on stretch receptors. They act up all the time. Some days I take 2 cubes of boiled chicken and i'm in distress, feeling as if I swallowed a whale.. On other days I eat 4oZ of goatmeat with no issues whatsoever. Restriction is not reliable. I know that's lousy to hear, because we fear a constant/lifelong battle with hunger......

When your nerves reconnect issue going to vary. You can tell, you will be able to feel it. I would say they start around 6 weeks and definitely are reconnected by 12.

Early on you really should not feel restriction. The whole point of the post op diet and portions is to not stress your staple line and allow you to heal. Feeling restriction is not the goal. Hitting your Protein and fluids is.

Everyone's restriction is different, and your restriction will vary too. Sometimes mine is very noticeable (so that's when I use it for the tool that it is and I listen to it), and other times it isn't as tight for me, and that's when I rely on what I've learned about Portion Control and making sure I limit my intake.

When the nerves start firing again? Also will vary, but I would think most people by 6-12 weeks out are able to feel fullness and/or satiety. But as a rule, I try to stop eating before I'm full, and stop when I'm satisfied.

Forgot to mention too, that you will also notice a difference in how full you feel when eating full-blown solid food....liquids, pureed, and even some soft foods will be in and out of your new stomach in a fairly short time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
